In wind turbines, the TÜV-certified NP7-12 battery from GS YUASA buffers the power supply of the pitch systems.
GS YUASA has developed the powerful and TÜV-certified NP batteries buffering pitch motors in wind turbines.
For this demanding application with the battery being exposed to shocks and vibrations, GS YUASA has developed the 12V NP battery series. The NP7-12 and NPH5-12 types are even TÜV-certified according to the standards for determining resistance, DIN EN 60068-2-6:2008, DIN EN 61373:2011 and DIN EN 60068-2-27:1995. The 20-hour rated capacity of the batteries is 5Ah (NPH5-12) and 7Ah (NP7-12). In addition, the batteries are highly reliable and fast recovering after deep discharge. Due to AGM technology, operation in almost any position (except overhead) is possible without loss of power, even in moving parts. Special lead-calcium grids ensure a long service life of 3 to 6 years according to EUROBAT, making a replacement outside the usual service intervals not necessary. This is particularly important in the offshore sector, where service costs are very high. Water refilling is also not necessary over the entire service life.
GS YUASA’s NP battery series are TÜV-certified and used in pitch systems of wind turbines, among other applications.
