The GS YUASA VRLA battery SW280 is now classified as a 6-9 year battery according to Eurobat, instead of the previous 3-5 year battery. The battery has proven the necessary properties in extensive tests.
The high rate discharge performance VRLA battery (valve-regulated lead-acid battery) is used in mini and midi applications of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) as well as in all applications with high discharge rates. Their 10-minute constant power discharge rate up to 1.6V/cell (at 20°C) is 46.7W per cell, the discharge rate up to 9.6V/cell (at 20°C) is 280W per block. The 12V battery delivers a maximum discharge current of 150A at 1 second, or 50A at 1 minute, and has a low capacity loss of 3% per month at 20°C.
The lead calcium grids ensure superior life and, in accordance with AGM technology, the battery has an absorbed glass mat construction with no free acid. The valve-regulated design enables almost 100% gas recombination. There is an FR option available, which is flame retardant to UL94 V0, and the battery allows operation in any orientation, excluding continuous inverted use.
The operating temperature range for storage in fully charged condition is -20 to +60°C, for charge -15 to +50°C, and for discharge -20 to +60°C. GS YUASA manufactures the SW280 batteries in factories that comply with EN ISO 9001 quality management and EN ISO 14001 environmental management, additionally they comply with EN60896-21 and -22.
