Powering the Best: Portfolio for motorcycle batteries of the YUASA and GS brands from GS YUASA has been convincing for 40 years

GS YUASA is the world’s leading original equipment manufacturer for motorbike batteries. With more than 40 years of development experience, GS YUASA motorbike and powersport batteries are factory fitted to a wide range of major motorbike brands, including Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Harley-Davidson. Each GS YUASA motorbike and powersport battery therefore has the same high performance, quality and reliability as the original motorbike battery.  By working closely with these major motorbike manufacturers on battery development, GS YUASA is able to meet the specific requirements of riders and manufacturers. This has established the company as the global market leader for motorbike batteries and a reliable partner for quality and innovation.

Especially when it comes to batteries, the saying applies: If you buy cheap, you buy twice. While low-priced batteries may seem like an interesting option at first, they often have a shorter life and need to be replaced more often. High-priced batteries, on the other hand, usually use materials of higher quality and with advanced technology, representing a longer life and a higher performance. This means that although they are more expensive to buy, their higher quality and longer life will save money in the end, as they do not need to be replaced as often.

“YUASA and GS are renowned brands in the motorbike industry. We are known for our innovative battery technology and our high-quality products. With a company history that stretches back over a century, the GS YUASA brand has become synonymous with quality, reliability and performance,” said Theo den Hoed Motorcycle Battery Product Manager for GS Yuasa Battery Europe Ltd.. “In addition to our long-standing collaboration with motorcycle manufacturers, our collaborations with HRC Repsol Honda in MotoGP and the IDM racing team GERT56 emphasise our commitment to excellence and our drive for innovation. We place great emphasis on providing riders around the world with the exact products they need to live their passion for motorcycling.”

A brief journey back in time to the Yuasa milestones

  • In 1983, the world of batteries was revolutionised by the introduction of Yuasa’s revolutionary Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) dry cell batteries, which were maintenance free. These “futuristic” batteries represented a turning point at the time, as they no longer required open venting. At the same time, weight and size were reduced, making installation and maintenance more convenient and accessible than ever before.
  • In 1999, the factory-activated, sealed, maintenance-free, high-performance YTZ® type battery was launched. These batteries did not have to be commissioned first, but were ready for use immediately. They could also be installed at multiple angles due to the new design, opening up a wide range of possibilities for motorbike manufacturers and riders around the world.

YTX®, YTZ® and GYZ® are registered trademarks of GS YUASA International Ltd. and are used as standard references. Only YUASA and GS manufacture genuine YTX®, YTZ® and GYZ® motorbike batteries: a crucial feature when choosing a motorbike battery, as using an unsuitable or cheaper battery can lead to performance degradation and possible problems, even damaging the entire engine system.

GS YUASA offers the widest range of motorbike batteries on the market, ensuring that there is a battery for every type of motorbike. Whether for sport, touring or adventure, GS YUASA has the optimum battery.
