Many caravan owners are already dreaming of next summer’s big trip. But winter camping can also have its charms. Either way, before you go camping you should do something good for your caravan and upgrade to quality batteries from Yuasa.
Whether you are camping with or without access to electricity, the batteries in the YBX Active series allow you to stay wherever it is most beautiful. Modern motorhomes, such as caravans, mini campers, camper vans and RVs, as well as boats and other recreational vehicles, are now equipped with more technology and electrical appliances than ever before. That is why the vehicles always need two very different batteries: the starter battery for the engine and the so-called on-board batteries for connecting all the other power consumers in the vehicle, such as pumps, lights, chargers for smartphones and other devices, heating or the refrigerator, radio or TV.
YBX Active leisure and marine batteries have been specifically designed to provide a reliable power supply and a long service life. They ensure a constant, stable current flow over long periods of time when they are regularly charged. Thanks to the fixed connection with the vehicle’s built-in charger, they also perform the important task of compensating for irregularities in the power supply.
The YBX Active EFB and AGM models utilize advanced battery technologies that provide a longer lifespan, more charge cycles and faster recharge. The AGM model also offers maximum safety with a leak-proof internal construction.
Extend the life of your RV battery
Batteries lose their charge naturally if they are not charged regularly. A charge level that is too low damages the battery. The challenge, and at the same time one of the most common sources of error, is the natural self-discharge of the battery in combination with electrical loads, such as those caused by security systems, which constantly consume power.
Pro tip: the battery should be charged at the latest when the power has dropped to 50 per cent. It is important that the battery is never completely discharged, as this can cause internal damage and significantly reduce its lifespan.
Further tips:
- Solar panels: these are an ideal way to relieve the on-board battery and charge it
- Check the charge level of all batteries regularly
- Secure correctly: Before departure, check that the battery is upright and secure
- Clean: Clean the battery tray and terminals at least once a year
- Regularly check the vent pipe (if still present)
