The journey is the reward – Every measure for greater environmental sustainability counts

GS YUASA Group is implementing a wide range of CO2 reduction measures with the aim of reducing total CO2 emissions by 30% by 2030 compared to 2018 and achieving CO2 neutrality. To keep this ambitious goal consistently in view, so-called environmental audits are carried out at every GS YUASA Group site:

Internal environmental audits – Because every day counts for the environment.

These audits check the implementation of individual measures and the respective status quo with regard to CO2 reduction. This also includes reviewing and (re)assessing the environmental management system itself on a regular basis in order to improve performance and optimise the system. Specially trained employees carry out the internal audits. The focus of this check-up is on the following points:

  • Compliance with environmental laws and regulations, etc. (Legal Compliance Audit)
  • Maintenance and management of environmental management systems (System audit)
  • Degree of achievement of environmental objectives (Performance audit)

The view from outside according to ISO 14001

GS YUASA Group is one of approximately 300,000 companies and organisations worldwide that are certified to ISO 14001. The key points of this standard are:

  • Planning and fixing environmental goals and related actions.
  • Implementing the defined measures
  • Regularly reviewing the defined environmental policy
  • Submitting optimisation proposals and adapting environmental guidelines

In order to ensure worldwide conformity and transparency, to prevent operational blindness and to make results visible, external audits are carried out at GS YUASA at regular intervals by an environmental certification agency. The results of these audits confirm that all sites are operating in compliance with the standards for environmental management systems and that the PDCA cycles are working successfully.

This external view provides valuable insights that make it possible to work on improving existing systems or integrating new processes.
