GS YUASA supports GERT56 Racing Team in the IDM Season 2022

The GERT56 racing team is happy about GS YUASA’s support in the new 2022 IDM season.

Batteries from GS YUASA power BMW racing motorbike.

The new IDM season starts on 6 May with the first race at the Lausitzring in Germany. The battery manufacturer GS YUASA will continue to support and sponsor the German GERT56 racing team in 2022, which has been participating in the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) since last year.

With its current racers Julian Puffe, Toni Finsterbusch, Rico Löwe and Jan Schmidt, the GERT56 team will remain loyal to the BMW Motorrad brand in the current season and will contest the races on the new BMW M 1000 RR. Weighing 169.8 kg, the bike has a cubic capacity of 999 cc and an output of 156 kW (212 hp) at 14,500 rpm. Its top speed is 306 km/h according to the factory specification.

Power is provided by YUASA batteries from the YTZ series, which are also used in the original equipment of series vehicles. Due to their compact and lightweight design, they save additional weight and thus reduce unnecessary ballast during speed racing. In addition, the YTZ batteries ensure a safe engine start after the pit stop and are extremely robust, as they are exposed to strong vibrations and thermal loads during the race and have to withstand falls.

As part of its support, GS YUASA also checks the battery technology of the racing motorbikes and equips the GERT56 team vehicles with batteries. In the external appearance of GERT56, GS YUASA will be present in the pits during the races, for example, with visual advertising.
